A Rough Draft of the Process Paper is due December TBA 

The Final Draft of the Process Paper is due January TBA  

Requirements:

  1. Title Page: Title of Project, Names, Junior Division, Category, Process Paper Word Count  (see example in NHD Rule Book, p.17)
  2. Process Paper: A description of why you chose your topic and how your project was developed. 
    • There is a 500-word limit.
    • Word limit does not the Title Page or the Annotated Bibliography
  3. Annotated Bibliography: An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

Paragraph #1: Describe your Topic.  How/why did you choose your topic? Explain why your topic is important and how it relates to the them. (This is NOT a personal introduction!)

Paragraphs #2-3: Explain where you found most of your research.  If another person (such as a librarian) was very helpful, it is good to mention.  Also, identify 2 or 3  of you most useful sources and why they were helpful to your project.

Paragraph #4: If you encountered any problems during your research or in producing your project, mention it here.  If you were looking for a specific source and had difficulty locating it, mention it in these paragraphs.

Paragraph #5: State how your topic fits into this year’s contest theme: Triumph and Tragedy in History.  Discuss the importance you your topic in history.   Use this paragraph to stress to the judges why your topic is significant.
